Rather large to place on a nightstand, but the remote would allow you to place it elsewhere in the room. My biggest issue was the size/brightness of the display. The LCD display is about the size of a deck of cards. While dimmable over a good range, it is still too bright at its lowest setting for a dark room. Further, at the lower settings, the display then becomes hard to read in a bright room. Probably a common problems with these LCD screens, but the size of this one is problematic at night.
